Ramkalawon, who is in charge of the firm's outsourcing services team, joined in 2011. She was promoted to a director of outsourcing in 2018, working with clients in financial services, hospitality and membership organisations. Her focus has been on the role cloud technologies increasingly play in the growth of the businesses which the firm supports.

Edison Group
Investor relations consultancy Edison Group has promoted Charles Combe to global sales director and primary sales contact for all corporate clients. The firm pointed to “recent digital transformation” of services for prompting increased demand.

It expanded earlier this year opening an office in Amsterdam to provide better coverage for Benelux and Continental European countries. Partnerships struck in South Africa have also boosted its international network, which is overseen from London.

Combe has spent nine years at Edison, first as a director and later heading the firm’s sales efforts in Europe. He is a qualified accountant and holds an MBA from Cass Business School. He began his career at PricewaterhouseCoopers before moving on to Barclays Capital and Smith & Williamson.

Walker Crips
Strengthening operations in York, Walker Crips has appointed Jonathan Downes as an investment manager. It has also named Scott Palmer as a wealth manager in its wealth management division.

Downes joins after eight years at Tilney, latterly as investment management director. Before that, he held investment management positions at Brewin Dolphin and James Brearley and Sons, working with private individuals, trusts, charities, pensions and small companies. He will report directly to investment director Wesley Coultas and focus on managing existing clients and developing Walker Crip’s business across the region.

Palmer is a chartered financial planner and joins from Novus Financial Services in Harrogate. He started his career as a paraplanner at Beaumont Robinson in Bradford, before joining PWH Financial Planning in Guiseley as an associate director.

Walker Crips MD for Wealth Management, Dominic Martin, said that both hires are part of “ambitious growth plans” for the firm’s wealth management division.

Carey Olsen
Offshore law firm Corey Olsen has brought litigation and insolvency specialist Tim Wright back in as a partner of its British Virgin Islands dispute resolution and litigation practice. Wright’s return as a partner coincides with the appointment of BVI litigator, Simon Hall, as counsel within the team.

Wright, who joins from heading the BVI litigation practice of Bedell Cristin, previously worked for Carey Olsen in the jurisdiction between 2016 and 2019.

The appointments, which follow the lateral hire in September of Alex Hall Taylor QC as head of the BVI dispute resolution and litigation team, are part of Carey Olsen's ongoing strategy to build out the firm's BVI dispute resolution and litigation offering both in the jurisdiction and further afield.

Drawing on his onshore and offshore experience, Wright's practice covers a wide range of litigation and insolvency matters with much of his recent work in the BVI focusing on cross-border fraud and asset tracing and all forms of corporate insolvency work, including liquidation. He is experienced at acting for and against liquidators in substantial insolvency proceedings, advising on shareholder disputes and unfair prejudice petitions, trust disputes, fraud work, and complex multi-jurisdictional cases emanating especially from Russia/CIS and China.

Wright worked for more than five years at Maples Group in BVI.
